anti-whingeing

attitude: some people can think like this about some other people (see more)

When someone (e.g. Michelle) feels something bad because something bad happened to them, it is bad if Michelle thinks: I can’t do anything because of this. I want someone else to know this.”

It is bad if Michelle says something like this many times “Something bad happened, I feel something bad because of this. I can’t do anything, I want someone to do something good for me because of this.”

Note

This is also know as the social 'commandment' of thou shalt not be a whinger. There are some gender differences in the acceptance of whingeing, it is more accepted for women to whinge to one another than it is to whinge to men. But, it is still possible to be labelled a whinger, and it is important to also have a plan of what to do. See related terms.

"Let's not tell John that the plan has changed. He'll only whinge about it and he doesn't need to know until Tuesday."

"The kids are forever whingeing. They don't like what I make them for dinner. They are old enough to cook and could help me if they don't like it."
