The Australian Dictionary of Invisible Culture for Teachers
get the hell out of here!
phrase: someone says these words (see more)
I say “I want you to do something now.” (i.e. get out of here)
I think about it like this: I want you to do it now. If you don’t do it now, it is very bad.
I feel something bad now because of this.
Because of this, when I say this, I want to say something bad at the same time. I want to say this word at the same time ‘hell’.
I think about this word like this: At some times people can feel something bad when they hear this word.
"A flash flood is coming! Get the hell out of here!"
"Ugh this party is so boring. Let's get the hell out of here."
