wowser

noun: a person of one kind (see more)

A kind of person.

People of this kind think something like this: I am a good person. I don’t do anything bad. Other people do many bad things. I want other people to live in the same way.

People of this kind (e.g. Skye) think often about the things other people do. Skye doesn’t want other people to do bad things. She thinks: If people do some things as I say, it will be good for them. I know it.

Because of this, Skye says many things to other people. After this, she feels something good.

Many people in Australia think it is bad to be like this.

Note

Wowser is usually used in reference to preventing 'fun', generally the kind including alcohol and gambling. The word seems to be used less now in common speech, but is used frequently in the media, often about governmental decisions.

"I don't mean to be a wowser, but I'll have to go home early tonight."

"The wowser brigade of Victoria has done it again. Ever high on the potent endorphins of their own smugness, they keep finding creative ways to control our lives. "
