against preventing someone from doing something that they want to do

value: many people in Australia think it is good if people can think like this (see more)

When someone (e.g. Madison) wants to do something, other people can’t say “You can’t do this because I don’t want you to do it.”

It is bad if someone says something like this. Madison can feel something bad because of this.

Note

It is sometimes necessary to go against this script to ensure that someone doesn't do something bad. In some cases, when this is said, you are declaring that it is your place and therefore you can decide, and by consequence, that you are someone above other people here.

"If a wife wants to go out to lunch with her friends, it is bad if her husband says 'You can't do this.'"

"When Daniel wants to apply for another job, it is bad if his boss says 'I don't want you to do this. You can't do it because of this.'"
