annual leave

noun: something (see more)

In Australia it can be like this:

At some times it is good to not work.

Because of this, people in Australia don't have to work at some times during the year, if people do some things before.

A long time before this time, it is good if a person says to their boss “I want to not work at this time, for this many days.” The boss can say “This is good. You can do this.” or “This is not good. You can’t do this.”

If the boss says “You can’t do this.” it is very bad to not work during this time.

"Many Australians are forgoing the pleasure of leisure, not taking their full quota of annual holidays. A study has found almost 60 per cent of full-time employees did not take all their annual leave last year - and your boss is likely to have been one of the worst offenders."

"Senator Bartlett has apologised to Senator Ferris and taken immediate leave from parliament. [...] A spokeswoman for Senator Bartlett says he's not applied for a specific amount of leave and is using annual leave, not stress leave."

"Nor are they living up to the 'land of the long weekend' moniker either, taking just 16 days annual leave -- again less than the 20 days of entitlement."
