The Australian Dictionary of Invisible Culture for Teachers
shout
verb: someone does something (see more)
Someone (e.g. Ethan) said something like this:
“I will have a drink now. I want everyone else to have a drink at the same time. I will pay for this.”
Ethan did it as men often do when they are with other men.
People think: It is good if people do this. It is good if one person does it after another person. When men do this, they feel something good because of this.
"Alright, we can go out for drinks, but it's your shout."
"It's your birthday, let me shout you drinks."
